Generation Provider: TVA

TVA and the distributors of TVA power are known for excellent reliability and competitively priced rates. While keeping rates competitive, TVA has not sacrificed its world-class transmission reliability. In fact, TVA has achieved 99.999% reliability every year since 2000. The TVA transmission system is one of the largest in North America and derives flexibility and reliability from its diverse generation mix. Coal-fired plants and combustion turbines provide about 60% of total generation, nuclear plants about 30%, and hydro plants about 10%. Renewable power sources that include wind, solar, and methane gas are also included in its portfolio. TVA also works toward regional solutions by cooperating with nearby utilities and transmission organizations to coordinate electricity flow and strengthen grid reliability on the interconnected grid.
